I happened to watch a replay of a debate in which Kirk Cameron (yes, the kid from Growing Pains) and a colleague took on a couple of atheists. The goal was to prove or to disprove the existence of God.
The extraordinary (to me) rule was that Kirk and his friend were NOT to use the Bible in their presentation.
Of course, within the first 5 minutes that rule was broken. I mean, how could you not use the Bible in an argument intended to prove its Author's existence?
The most impressive point came when Kirk Cameron passionately and clearly testified to a time when he asked God to prove Himself--and God came into his life and changed it. Period.
That point was immediately refuted by the opposition, who said, "You can't prove any point just from personal experience. You could say you've got a magic dragon in your back yard whom you converse with daily, and no one could argue your experience. But show us God. Show us His earth-making factory." And so forth....
The Christians' basic point was that God has proven Himself through His creation. Yes, we who believe the Bible--and believe that it is God's inerrant Word--believe that argument through and through.
Didn't impress the atheists.
Now, I ask you:
If you were asked to prove the existence of God, just what would you say?
I'd love to hear how you'd do with this question.
Any takers??
Blessings~

What's This Blog All About?
Welcome to my Blog! Glad to see you, and hope you visit often.
God matters -- so I want to talk "God-matters."
Who's the "I?"
Kate Oliver Webb, married, 68 years old (which is JUST a number, believe me!), and as the Bible says, "Alive in the Spirit!"
Pertinent facts:
Meanwhile, here's what I plan to chat about:
But currently active in the Christian world is a lot of "stuff" that is distracting from Jesus' message, rather than promoting it. Are the "very elect" being deceived? Yeah, I think so.
So I'm going to plunge into some deep waters -- stir up some mud at the bottom -- and see what surfaces after that.
Are you with me?
BLESSINGS,
Katee

Who's the "I?"
Kate Oliver Webb, married, 68 years old (which is JUST a number, believe me!), and as the Bible says, "Alive in the Spirit!"
Pertinent facts:
- I'm a newlywed. YAY!!
- I'm partially disabled due to Post-Polio Syndrome.
- I've been a Preacher's Kid and a Preacher's Wife -- I've been there, done that.
- GOD is faithful!
Meanwhile, here's what I plan to chat about:
- What's a "normal" Christian experience?
- Doctrinal issues: Who is God? Salvation; Healing; Miracles; Water-baptism; "New Wine;"
- Individual church issues: Church Membership; Who Do You Trust? The "New" Church;
- And there's a lot about: "What To Do When God Has Another Plan."

BLESSINGS,
Katee
